Professor at the University of Cambridge and at the Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø, with research interests mainly focussed on understanding the response of arctic and subarctic landscapes to climate change, using remote sensing methods from satellites and unmanned autonomous vehicles. Author of nine books and more than 150 scientific publications; member of the editorial board of the journal Remote Sensing. He has conducted many field investigations in Russia, Sweden, Norway (and the Antarctic).
