Neda Nasheri

Neda did her Masters and PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Ottawa, studying different viruses such as mumps, and hepatitis C virus. During her post-doc studies, she worked on foodborne viruses such as hepatitis A, E and norovirus.
Since January 2018, she has joined the Bureau of Microbial Hazards, at Health Canada, as a research scientist, and the Head of the Food Virology Laboratory. She continues her research on a variety of foodborne viruses, and runs a reference service for detection of viruses in food, clinical and environmental samples. She is also an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. Her research interests and projects include detection, genomic characterization, inactivation, and transmission of viruses.
