Philip Steinberg is UArctic Chair in Political Geography at Durham University, where he directs IBRU: Durham University’s Centre for Borders Research and the Durham Arctic Research Centre for Training and Interdisciplinary Collaboration (DurhamARCTIC). His Arctic research has been funded by the US National Science Foundation, the International Council for Canadian Studies, the European Commission, and the Leverhulme Trust and focuses on how the Arctic’s geophysical environment challenges legal norms and scientific understandings inherited from the temperate world.
