Monique Bernier

Monique has been mainly involved in the development of Remote Sensing applications in hydrology and monitoring of the cryosphere over 30 years. She is known internationally for her expertise in the monitoring of river ice and snow cover using SAR images. Her research activities include the monitoring of water resources over all its forms (snow, river ice, wetlands, soil moisture, frozen ground) using SAR sensors as well as visible, infrared and passive microwave sensors. She was the Adjunct Director of the Centre d’études Nordiques (CEN) for eight years. She is involved in the ESA Advisory Committee on Earth Observation since 2016.
